aZen Protocol joins the peaqosystem
In a nutshell: aZen Protocol — a DePIN for decentralized computation that enables people to earn rewards for sharing their compute resources — is migrating from Solana to peaq. This not only reinforces peaq’s role in the future of decentralized computation but also showcases how projects are increasingly recognizing the unique advantages of a layer-1 network built specifically for DePIN. Via aZen’s DePIN, you will be able to share compute resources from IoT devices, smartphones, PCs, and more, with businesses that need them in exchange for rewards.
From data centers to decentralized networks
Compute power is rapidly becoming one of the most in-demand resources of our times, with data center power demand estimated to grow by a whopping 160% by 2030. It’s not really a surprise that most of this is driven by the rapid development of AI. As Sam Altman aptly put it: “Everybody underestimates the need for AI compute.” But the ball doesn’t stop at compute power. AI also requires storage for vast amounts of data, as well as content delivery networks to manage the growing volume of media it generates. And not just AI — the more we rely on smart tech, the more any given industry needs any digital services you can imagine.
aZen, a DePIN for decentralized compute power, aims to solve these issues by leveraging community-sourced capacities. aZen transforms computational resources into Dynamic Fractional NFTs (dfNFTs). After minting their devices’ capacities as dfNFTs, users can earn rewards for sharing these computational resources — whether IoT, Smartphones, PC, or Internet Data Centers (IDC) — via a Proof of Contribution mechanism, which rewards them for any useful network activity. The protocol supports applications in Heterogeneous Computing, Ubiquitous Computing, Distributed Computing, and Federated Computing, empowering Web3 and Web2 businesses to scale efficiently and cost-effectively. It holds grants from Alibaba Cloud and Amazon Web Services as well as awards from Nvidia and AMD.
Built on top of aZen Protocol is the newly-launched ZenHive, a commercial-grade DePIN Edge Computing device that can provide content delivery services and store data. ZenHive also grants eCommerce and gaming businesses cost-effective and dynamic marketing outreach services based on location-based data analytics and AI inferencing.
After building on Solana, aZen is moving to peaq and will outfit all devices on its DePIN of 30,000+ units with self-sovereign peaq IDs, including both ZenHive hardware and other devices, bringing them on-chain on peaq. It will also develop and deploy on peaq the smart contracts for minting and managing its dfNFTs, enabling the community to pool their tokenized computation resources and power various digital services. Finally, it will launch its native token on peaq, also setting up the reward distribution on the network powering the Machine Economy.
aZen’s DePIN already boasts a joint capacity of 37,910.80 GB RAM, 29,702 GPUs and 982,347.41 GB worth of data storage space. Its partnerships include Zenlayer, an industry-leading IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) provider, as well as a major mobile refurbishing factory in China, which will bring more than 3 million devices to the aZen DePIN.
"aZen Protocol simplifies the complex challenge of heterogeneous computing by unifying diverse computational resources and orchestrating them through smart contracts. While many DePIN projects attract significant supply through token incentives, the real challenge lies on the demand side. To address this, aZen Protocol developed products like ZenHive, transitioning traditional cloud-based solutions to DePIN-based architectures. This demonstrates how real-world Web2 businesses can seamlessly operate on Web3 DePIN infrastructure with a competitive edge of greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness. peaq is the perfect home for a project like this, as its Modular DePIN Functions enable aZen to build and scale faster, and its vast enterprise outreach will greatly help us grow the demand side."
— Dr. Felix Xia, founder of aZen Protocol
“DePINs can easily outscale traditional IT businesses in a wide variety of branches, from compute to content distribution, delivering better service at a lower price. aZen is taking on this challenge, and its early momentum positions it well to further capitalize on the global digitalization. We are excited to see it leverage peaq and look forward to its deployment and growth as part of the Machine Economy.”
— Leonard Dorlöchter, co-founder of peaq
