Hyperway joins the peaqosystem
In a nutshell: Hyperway — a DePIN of community owned ground relays for ensuring fast data exchange between delivery drones and ground control centers — has joined the peaqosystem. As the need for drone delivery infrastructure grows, Hyperway is set to bring countless new devices to the peaqosystem. You will have the opportunity to run a ground relay, receiving rewards for its successful operation.
Flight path to the future
More and more companies are experimenting with drone delivery services, with the market expected to grow to $4.6 billion by 2030. And it’s pretty obvious why: smaller drones can quickly make local deliveries without, say, getting stuck in traffic jams, while larger drones can handle international shipments at the fraction of a cost of a cargo plane. Now with AI in the mix to make drones increasingly autonomous, the costs are set to drop even further.
However, there is a problem. Without live, up-to-date data readily available for AI pilots, the chances of collisions or other accidents are far higher than they need to be. But for drones to receive all the latest info without delays or interference regardless of the location, we need far greater connectivity infrastructure.
Hyperway — a Web3 project by DroneDash — is tackling this issue by building a DePIN of community-owned ground relays that will ensure fast data exchange between drones and ground control centers. These relays will support a variety of channels, including 5G and satellite communications. Networked together, they will effectively work as connectivity highways for small and large autonomous drones. The DePIN will also be available for air taxis, maritime, drones, smart city systems, and other relevant projects.
Hyperway has already partnered with 4 governments in the Asian region, working to enable autonomous local and international cargo shipments in major logistics contributors such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. Earlier today, it signed a major agreement with the government of Sabah, a Malaysian state in northern Borneo. As part of the agreement, the Hyperway project will enable critical drone infrastructure to support cargo drone operations for the agriculture sector.
As part of the integration with peaq, Hyperway will build the software needed to connect 5G and satellite ground relays with peaq. It will also build the smart contracts rewarding the owners of such stations with tokens based on how much bandwidth the drones have used up. It will also integrate peaq-compatible digital wallets into the DePIN and run a restricted public trial involving real-world drone flights powered by its DePIN. Leveraging peaq IDs and peaq’s other Modular DePIN Functions, Hyperway will launch its token natively on peaq and enable the community to buy peaq-powered ground relays.
“Autonomous drone deliveries are a perfect DePIN use case, leveraging the power of the community to build effective connectivity highways for UAVs. We are thrilled to see so much interest from governments and enterprises and look forward to bringing the network online on peaq. Building on peaq is a no-brainer, as peaq, with its Modular DePIN Functions and a bustling ecosystem, is literally the golden standard for a DePIN-focused layer-1.”
— Paul Yam, CEO at Hyperway
“Drones offer a cheaper alternative to cargo planes, and cheaper logistics means cheaper goods for the end buyers, including everyday people. With its community-powered drone connectivity DePIN, Hyperway is building the future of commercial UAV deliveries with Web3 at its core — a vision that will ultimately benefit everyone. We are happy to see it leverage peaq as its layer-1 backbone and look forward to the takeoff.”
— Leonard Dorlöchter, co-founder of peaq
