Keeping up with the peaqosystem: Q3 2024 recap

Summer might be over, but here at the home of DePIN, things are always piping-hot. peaq backed Borderless Capital’s $100 million DePIN fund as anchor LP, four major European entities joined peaq’s genesis node pool, and TOKEN2049 Singapore was a huge success, leading to exciting new opportunities for peaq. The peaqosystem also grew by 10 DePINs, bringing the current number of projects building on the home of DePIN to 45. Out of those 45 DePINs, 38 have already been announced, with lots more in the pipeline. The total number of devices on peaq is now more than 1.3 million, and all of that is just scratching the surface.

SPIN.FASHION

SPIN.FASHION — the leading platform for minting, connecting, selling and purchasing art, luxury, and culture objects on-chain — joined the peaqosystem. In its closed invite-only beta pilot phase, SPIN.FASHION already onboarded more than 100 brands and creators. Its platform is currently home to over 80,000 digital and physical items for art and luxury enthusiasts and is set to onboard over 1M items in the next 12 months.

Kaisar Network

Kaisar Network, a DePIN providing peer-to-peer GPU resources to AI projects, chose peaq as its home. Kaisar Network offers a Web3-based alternative to centralized cloud platforms. It currently has access to the spare capacities of over 100,000 consumer- and enterprise-grade GPUs serving as the decentralized backbone of advanced AI.

YOM

YOM, a decentralized cloud gaming and interactive experience network, announced expanding to peaq from Solana. YOM’s DePIN harnesses the power of idle personal gaming rigs around the world, leveraging their hardware to remotely run and stream games and interactive experiences to any device. The owners of those rigs earn tokens for every hour of gaming content they stream.

Roam Network

Roam Network joined the peaqosystem to provide telecom companies with DePIN-sourced granular insights into their local coverage and signal quality. Roam’s DePIN lets users earn tokens for sharing anonymized insights on the signal they get and helping build granular datasets on mobile coverage. With a total of about 5,000 users in the first few months since its app launch, Roam is already present in 149 countries.

NetSepio

NetSepio joined the home of DePIN to build a DePIN for global decentralized VPN services. Anyone can join NetSepio’s Erebrus network and earn rewards for sharing their bandwidth with people who want to privately browse the Web or access geo-fenced applications. In its beta phase, the Web3 VPN service has already onboarded 500 users and grown to 10 nodes, with dozens more to join.

Synapx

Synapx, a software DePIN for sharing health data from wearable devices, joined the peaqosystem. Synapx is set to provide researchers, healthcare providers, and healthtech platforms with access to data from millions of connected health wearables through its marketplace of physiological data. The people opting to provide data for this marketplace will receive rewards for doing so.

Hyperway

Hyperway joined the peaqosystem to build a DePIN of community-owned ground relays that will ensure fast data exchange between drones and ground control centers. Networked together, these relays will effectively work as connectivity highways for small and large autonomous drones. Hyperway has already partnered with 4 governments in the Asian region, working to enable autonomous local and international cargo shipments in major logistics contributors such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan.

Bistroo

Bistroo, a food delivery and takeout DePIN, unveiled its expansion to peaq from Ethereum to directly connect foodies with restaurants, helping reduce the latter’s overhead costs compared to Web2 apps. The service is already available in the Netherlands, counting a total of more than 100,000 users, and is now expanding into Belgium.

DeNet

DeNet, a DePIN working as a data storage layer for apps and dApps, is migrating from Polygon to peaq. By leveraging the idle storage capacities of everyday computers and smartphones, DeNet will enable anyone to earn rewards for sharing their unused hard drive space. Counting some 100,000 users from over 25 countries, DeNet currently has a combined data storage capacity of 9 petabytes and is already hosting some 13 million files.

Pickspot

Pickspot joined the peaqosystem to transform last-mile delivery in Africa. Pickspot is building a DePIN of community-owned smart parcel lockers that power last-mile delivery and work as a crucial part of the larger logistical ecosystem. This network of smart lockers is set to stimulate eCommerce in the area and expand the reach of local businesses while earning fees and crypto rewards for its owners.

Even more DePINs building on peaq

Besides the 38 DePINs that have already been announced, there are 7 more DePINs currently building on peaq, covering a variety of use cases ranging from AI-powered health diagnostics and decentralized edge computing to tokenized luxury vehicles and beyond. You can expect to hear more about those (and many others) in Q4.

New peaqosystem integrations

VLaunch

VLaunch joined the peaqosystem as the first launchpad on peaq. Given peaq’s position as the home of DePIN, VLaunch’s launchpad is set to become a supporting tool for this entire Web3 sector. The launchpad will enable DePINs building on peaq to grant the community early access to their respective tokens.

Fireblocks

Fireblocks — an enterprise-grade platform for managing digital asset operations and building businesses on the blockchain — integrated peaq. This will allow institutional players to securely manage and store $PEAQ and other peaq-native assets.

Safe

Safe wallet was deployed on peaq’s pre-launch network. As soon as peaq’s mainnet launches, any organizations or individuals requiring multisignature wallets will have access to one of the industry’s most trusted multisig solutions.

Ledger

All Ledger hardware devices will support peaq from its launch. This integration was handled by Zondax — a blockchain engineering company dedicated to advancing decentralized technologies. Thanks to their amazing work, you will be able to securely store your $PEAQ and other peaq-native tokens as well as sign transactions with a Ledger device from the moment peaq launches.

LayerZero

LayerZero integrated peaq, connecting the home of DePIN with liquidity and data on more than 80 blockchains. This unlocks boundless possibilities for DePINs on peaq, makes it easier for projects to migrate to peaq from other blockchains, and enabling a variety of future integrations.

Teneo launched its Community Node browser extension

Teneo Protocol introduced its Community Node extension for Chrome, which allows anyone to collect rewards for helping unlock limitless real-world data with their unused social media bandwidth. The extension accesses public social media data streams, helping to build a decentralized network where data is no longer monopolized by Big Tech. All you need to get started is simply install and run a Teneo Community Node on your smartphone or desktop.

penomo teamed up with BloXmove

penomo and BloXmove teamed up to drive mobility financing the DePIN way. This partnership will utilize penomo’s platform for RWA financing to support BloXmove’s innovative projects.

Combinder, Nevermined, & Olas unveiled an AI-driven energy grid demo on peaq

Combinder joined forces with Nevermined and Olas to build a demo of an AI-driven Web-3 powered energy nano-grid. The idea behind the project is to showcase how an individual household can work as a source of green energy and help offload the grid.

Combinder & Teneo teamed up

Teneo teamed up with Combinder to help create a greener future. All data created by Combinder’s energy DePIN will be processed by the Teneo Data Layer, empowering Combinder to transform their data into a valuable asset.

XMAQUINA & DroneDash announced a collab

DroneDash — a company focused on drone services for logistics, cargo delivery, asset management, and more — tapped into XMAQUINA’s ecosystem for robot tokenization. This will allow DroneDash to tokenize their industry-grade delivery drones, powering flexible, on-demand drone services the Web3 way. The community will be able to invest in DroneDash’s drones and earn revenue from their operation.

XMAQUINA & Teneo joined forces

XMAQUINA & Teneo joined forces to monetize robot data in the tokenized economy. Teneo will serve as XMAQUINA’s tokenization infrastructure provider, as well as play a crucial role in developing their data layer. This will ensure that every piece of data generated by the robots on XMAQUINA is optimized for creating new streams of income across multiple industries.

Farmsent and Bistroo bring foodies into Web3

Farmsent and Bistroo are working together to connect farmers directly with consumers and build a sustainable food chain on the home of DePIN.

peaq at Token2049 Singapore

peaq’s booth at Token2049 Singapore gave a whole new meaning to the phrase “the home of DePIN.” Featuring 25 #DePINs all building on peaq, the booth was a hit among attendees, as it showcased what’s already possible in crypto’s most exciting sector.

Besides being the talk of the conference floor, peaq was also discussed on stage. Jeffrey Outlaw, Chief Experience Officer at YOM, Brent van der Heiden, Co-Founder of MapMetrics, and Sim Khela, Co-Founder of Farmsent participated in a panel discussion hosted by Messari’s Alexander Barry to talk about why so many DePINs are moving to peaq. peaq announced new launch window

Due to new opportunities arising from peaq's success in Singapore and beyond, the launch window has been extended into October 2024. While the project could launch now, it has been developed for years, and a minor delay that supports its mission through more top exchange listings is worth taking. The team behind peaq believes the decision is correct and hopes everyone with peaq's long-term interests in mind can get behind it.

peaq backed $100 million DePIN fund by Borderless Capital

peaq backed the $100 million DePIN Fund III by Borderless Capital as an anchor investor. With Helium co-founder Sean Carey and former head of U.S. investments at Telefónica Alvaro Gracia among the partners, the fund will invest in the future of decentralized infrastructure. With peaq as one of its key pillars, it will unlock new opportunities for DePINs building on peaq and bring more DePINs into the peaqosystem.

Telekom, Lufthansa Innovation Hub, Bertelsmann Investments, and TUM joined the peaq genesis node pool

Bertelsmann Investments, Deutsche Telekom MMS, Lufthansa Innovation Hub, and Technical University of Munich (TUM) are all launching peaq genesis nodes. This strengthens the ties between peaq’s DePIN ecosystem and the wider enterprise world, bringing faster adoption and growth to the whole DePIN sector.

peaq announced support for all Ethereum token standards from launch

peaq will support all Ethereum token standards — including ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, and more — from launch. This means DePIN builders will be able to use some of the most popular standards in Web3 and natively deploy EVM-based tokens and smart contracts on peaq. It will also allow DePIN projects already building on any EVM-compatible chain to easily integrate with or migrate to peaq.
