peaq scores #1 rank on fundamentals on CertiK Skynet

In a nutshell: CertiK, the leading smart contract audit service, completes its first audit of peaq, ranking the network #1 for fundamentals, with high marks across all categories. A high CertiK ranking confirms the security of the code peaq runs on and the strength of the general project setup and helps with the final polish ahead of the mainnet launch. So now, you can be sure that peaq was built with security in mind and is here to stay, serving as the reliable and resilient home of DePIN.

Trust, but certify

In Web3, code is law. The good news about that is, you can do away with a lot of the problems that come with centralized regulators and enjoy more transparency and openness. The bad news is, if the code isn’t secure enough, you can still find a loophole or two. When that happens, you can rarely get your tokens back — blockchain is immutable, after all, so there’s a strict no backsies policy.

So it goes without saying that any Web3 project must take its security as seriously as it gets. With the DePIN space, and a layer-1 for DePINs like peaq, that is twice the case. When real-world machines are involved, a flaw in the code can mean more than lost tokens — it could invite a real-world disaster. And to make sure that no such things happen in the peaqosystem, peaq has invited CertiK, the leading smart contract audit service, to audit its code and project in the run-up to the mainnet launch.

Now, peaq’s CertiK audit results are in, and they are quite promising. On its fundamental health, peaq got a ranking of 98 — the highest across the entire spectrum of pre-launch stage networks on the leaderboard. For clarity, in this context, “fundamental health” here doesn’t refer to peaq’s fundamentals, as awesome as those are. To quote CertiK’s own blog, what we’re talking about is an estimate of “team and project transparency, structure, quality of documentation, and related indicators.” It is a certificate of a quality project and an acknowledgement of peaq’s maturity and comprehensive approach to building.

Overall, peaq landed in the top 10 percentile across all four categories — fundamental, operational, code, and community — in another proof of the project’s thoroughness and long-term commitment to being the best home of DePIN it can be. It assessed the impact of peaq’s GitHub as high and confirmed the high activity of peaq’s X/Twitter profile, among the other community-focused metrics.

The audit did not reveal any critical vulnerabilities in the code, suggesting that the network is overall in a great shape ahead of the launch. It also gave the team a highly valuable overview of the fixes to add in the run-up to the grand event, which is now in full focus. Ultimately, the audit will help the core team behind peaq make the launch as secure as possible, while also ensuring peaq’s operational security in the years to come.

“We are thrilled to see peaq score so high on the CertiK leaderboard and see it as a confirmation of the project’s long-running commitment to security and quality. It also gives the team additional pointers at the work ahead. The priority now is to make peaq’s launch go as smoothly as possible, and CertiK’s audit has already been very helpful on that front.”
